We performed a FreeBSD 6 installation. Rodd gave a presentation on his IPCop firewall/router installation.

Rodd gave a presentation on ntop and it's network monitoring capabilities. Clay was able to download the new Ubuntu Breezy 5.10 that morning and we took a close look at the live cd version.

Warren demonstrated a complete install and basic configuration of Nagios on FreeBSD. Nagios is a comprehensive network monitor. Brendan also showed us how to utilize the free internet service provided with Verizon cellular plans. A cell phone and phone/USB cable, simple shell scripts, and pppd are all that's needed to provide a dial-up Internet connection for your laptop when on the road.

Rodd reviewed VMWare 5 on Linux by illustrating a guest Windows XP Professional install on a Xandros 3.0 (Debian) host. We also looked at Xen and Qemu as alternatives.
